It's Heartfelt Creations Wednesday!

Today on the Heartfelt Creations Blog I shared a 12x12 layout.  It felt so good to get a page done!  Here is the page in case you missed it.  Please note that the mouse got away without any issues from my cat who was too busy trying to make friends with the little guy to scare him or attack him!  Houdini is definatly NOT a hunter!  She wouldn't last a day without her pre-made food!

I just love the stamp and die set!  I think it is a MOST have for scrapbookers and card makers, especially if you like making your own flowers although Prima's would look excellent with these leaves and swirls as well.  Cut them apart use them in one peice... I am amazed at all the different looks you can get with these  and with the matching die... well I'm in heaven!

I'm submitting this page in a few contests and galleries whereI like to play including Lasting Memories they have my favorite type of challenge this week is all about flowers... and I LOVE flowers.  Use It Tuesday is also having a challenge this week incorporating flowers and stamps this week.  Scrap It Forward is all about our furry friends on there current challenge!   I'm also going to play at NVS challenge as the inspiration collage for this week is full of orangy peach and green as well as a touch of grunge with a blinged out skull... well you have to see it to understand!  Well hope everyone is having a great week!

It's Heartfelt Wednesday!

Good morning everyone!

Well you guys are in for a treat again this week!  Wow what a talented bunch of designers that Heartfelt has put together!  Every week there is amazing samples, each week is more exquisite then the previous!  It is such an honour to be on the same team as these ladies! 

Well this week for my sample project I decided to create a mini album.  Actually the album itself was created by following a U-Stream video tutorial by our very own Lisa Gregory she did this paper bag mini album class as a special treat to all the swirly savages over at Swirlydoos for National Scrapbooking Day... I was going to link the tutorial but... due to some technical difficulties (snicker) the u-stream class was not recorded but as soon as Lisa records a second version of this class I'll update my post.  I've decided to show the entire mini album throughout the week as to do the whole thing in on shot would be a lot.  So here is the front page of my mini... as always the directions to my project can be found on the Heartfelt Creations Blog.

Here it is from the side!  The texture in this image is amazing!  I truly love the way this turned out!  I actually used only 4 ink pads to color this image.  I really wanted to show that every scrapbooker regardless of coloring skills can do so much with these stamps.  Your basic supplies and a few of these stamps are really all you need to create a one of a kind special project that you will treasure forever!

Just to give you an idea of how I layer these flowers... here are some close ups of the rose... by the way... see how this shimmers... it is all the cardstock... I didn't add glitter to this at all.

The first layer uses the whole flower, only the outer edges are shaped I layered over top of the rest of the flowers...

The second layer is the entire middle minus the edges which where previously shaped so cut those out, this time shape only the petal at the very top of the flower and layer...

The third layer was the center of the bud so this time cut everything way but the cut it all the way down to the base of the flower, this helps shape the 4th layer

Fourth layer; gently curve the paper with your fingers till you are satisfied with the shape.

Fifth layer finishes of the piece.

Hope everyone is having a terrific week!  I'm so happy to share a few more projects that I created for Heartfelt Creations.  Don't forget to go see what the rest of the DT team did!  I am so impressed by the projects that everyone has created again this week!  They are all just so talented!

Directions

Stamp image on CS using Momento ink and color as directed.  Cut out entire image and shape using stylus.  Stamp roses twice, color and cut out various petals to shape and layer over main image.

Card base is Neenah CS 6 ½” x 5” folded.  Cut 2 layers of the brown cardstocks for top panel reducing the size of each piece by 1/4” per layer.  Stamp top layer with word background using Versa mark Ink. Add some perfect pearls to the image using a paint brush (a little goes a long way, pick up a little bit of the powder with your brush).  Die cut border from the die set and layer over the top panel, add a strip of the dark cardstock. Using an embossing pen add a little bit to your image, leave veins petal centers and rub in some perfect pearls with you brush.   Attach all layers to the card using your favourite adhesive.

For my second card I decided to make it simple... well at lease I tried to keep it simple.  I may have a hard time with that concept I think but here it is... see... it is fairly simple... don't you think?   Check out the product list... hardly anything... and the copic markers... again 3 colors and a little grey... that is it! and I still managed to get a wonderful depth in my image.  Prooving that you can do a lot with just a little... OK I'm still ordoring some new markers, but I don't really HAVE too... I'm just a little bit addicted to them at this point I think.

Directions

Stamp image on cardstock using Momento ink and color image flat, use grey tones to add shading to image, fussy cut entire image.

Stamp sentiments on white cardstock using distress ink and cut out using smallest oval die. Die cut  2 scalloped ovals, the smallest dies in the set, in burgundy and white, adhere all the layers using your favourite adhesive as well as the cardinal image.

The card base measures 5”x7”, cut a panel that is ¼” smaller than the card front add trim to the center of the panel and glue to card base.  Attach the oval using pop dots.

What did I say... simple as well... simple as simple can be.  Or something like that!  Well thanks for dropping by! 

Chipboard-Palooza

Nothing like waiting at the last minute to enter a contest well things are super hectic this month so I'm really happy to have had a chance to do a page at all!  But when you see the awesome prizes offered by swirlydoos and dusty attic well I just have to play along... you have until midnight tonight if you want to play!

Everything on here is from Swirlydoos some from the store and some from the kits with the exception of the coordination cardstock I used as the dp it is sanded and distressed!  I love there cardstock lines... it is so much fun to play with... I tried to keep this page simple to add so that my chipboard would stand out more Here are some close up of the DA peices...

I love how delicate the titles are they are so detail and incredibly beautiful.  I painted the chipboard white and I added a little Chestnut Roan to the top and bottom of the title  so that it gradually fades into the white.  It is a technique that I've seen Gabrielle do on her chipboard titles and I just love the look of it so I thought I would try to recreate that.

The snow flakes I did pretty much like Krissy showed with the Glitter video... all the video tutorials were fabulous! 

Oh the page is based on the sketch over at Lasting Memories... They have great weekly challenges... I was in the middle of applying for the DT when I realized how little time I actually have so I think it is better if I just play along when I can for now... at least till things die down... but it was such a great sketch that I still wanted to use it! 

I created the background by stamping a Large elegant word background stamp from Heartfelt Creations.  I then ran my distress ink pad directly on the paper to give it a grungy look.  It just so happens that the challenge at Noel Mignon is Stampy Mcstamperson.  He he I love when that happens!  Well thanks for looking

Heartfelt Creations Wednesday

Good morning!

Hope every one is having a great day!  It's Wednesday which is my favorite day of the week... Please note that is favorite day of the working week.  LOL.  Wednesdays I get to share with you what I've been up to in my craft room, I still prefer my weekends because that is when I get to actually PLAY in my craft room (OK technically my kitchen but beggars can't be choosers, or so I'm told).  I'm happy to be sharing a few projects with all of you today.  First up is this super easy pocket and it smells so good... I've got vanilla potpourri in there!  Super SWEET!

Jean Pocket, Trim, Tim Holtz – Mini stapler, Scribble Scrabble paper – Sweet Shop Collection, Crafter’s Newspaper print, Memento Ink, Color Box fluid chalk - Chestnut Roan & Dark Moss, Distress Ink – Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain,  Smooch – Sunkissed spray & molasses paint , Dusty Attic chipboard – Foliage, Prima - E-Line pearls, Speed-Sew glue, Glossy Accents, Glue gun & a button.  Potpourri & wide lace

Directions:

Cut out a denim pocket from any old pair of jeans, tear paper to cover the pocket, ink edges with chestnut roan. Glue paper to the pocket, I cover the paper with a thin layer of Speed-Sew and place on to pocket.  You can add more paper layers; I tore a few strips, inked edges again and glued them with Glossy Accents.  Attach trim around the edge of the pocket, securing with mini staples as you go around, make sure you leave extra trim at the top for your handle.  Stamp all 3 sizes of sunflowers on white cardstock and spray with Sunkissed Spray, once dry, cut out the flowers using coordinating die cut or scissors, snip between each petal.  Shape petals by curling downwards and layer the flowers using hot glue.  Add a button for the flower center.  Cut out 2 leaves from newspaper print, ink with green and brown inks, crumple leaves and attach to the bottom of the flower.  Use molasses smooch paint to cover the chipboard piece, decorate with pearls.  Glue chipboard and flower to the pocket as shown.

Sew a pocket out of the wide lace, fill pocket with potpourri and staple shut, add the lace pocket inside your denim pocket.

For my second project I decided to make a card... I had been meaning to take a class on paper tole for a very long time now.  I thought these images would look wonderful done up with this technique.  I went to my local craft shop with my stamps, copics, cardstock and scissors and here is what I came out with.  It is a very time consuming process but the results are super special.  I know I will do this technique again and again!  I loved every second of this project... for one I love learning new techniques and I like the tediousness required in this technique, I know most people like quick and painless but to me the more tedious the more love I poured into my card and isn't that the point of making a card for those special people in our lives.  OK so I wouldn't do this on every card but you can definitely count on seeing a card here and there done in this technique!!

Directions:

Start with a 6’x 6’ card base (Light Green), cut out a 5.5’x 5.5’ piece of pattern paper.   Cut a 1 ½’ strip of paper and punch out both sides of strip with lace punch to create a ribbon secure to each corner of pattern paper and add a ribbon as shown in picture.  Adhere pattern paper to base card.  Image was done using a paper tole technique; the image was stamped 4 times, a color and cut template will be available on my blog.   Color in with copic markers various parts of image that are not touching anything else.  Pieces are then individually cut out and shaped using stylus.  Stamp base image once again on white cardstock and die cut that image.  Layer individual pieces on die cut background starting with parts of image that are furthest away or underneath other pieces.  Mat image with a second die cut piece and adhere to card base with foam spacers.

A few more views.  I'm really hoping you can all see the dimention I was able to get on the image.  It was so worth the extra time it took to to the paper tole!  It is the perfect technique for those extra special cards

Heartfelt Creations Wednesday

I'm so happy that I get to share a couple of projects with you today!  The first project I'm sharing is the second project I had sent in for my application for the Heartfelt Creations Design Team.  Once again let me tell you that I am so thrilled to be part of this super talented team!

6’x 9’ Brown cardstock folded in half for the card base. Layer a 5 ¾’x 4 ¼’ piece of white cardstock and a 5 ½’x 4’ piece of brown cardstock; sew along the edge and attach panel to the card base.  Stamp 2 large flowers on white cardstock using Walnut Stain distress ink, color 1 flower with the copic markers listed above; spray the second flower with the Sun Kissed Smooch.  This will match the copic colors perfectly.  Cut them out and make slits in between each petal.  Fold the petals up, round them down using your fingers and pinch the tip, use a stylus tool (a retractable pen would work too) shape the middle of the top flower till it is rounded, the one that was coloured with copics.  Add pop dots in the middle of the bottom (Sun Kissed) flower and layer both flowers together, making sure that you offset the petals. Pour some diamond dust in a baggy and add a few drops of alcohols ink to die the glass brown.  Use some Glossy Accents in the center of your flower and sprinkle with Diamond Dust.  Cut out a stem and leaf from your white cardstock and color with copic markers, I free handed these shapes, glue down the stem and secure the leaf by running a stitch along the center vain and using a strong adhesive add the flower.  I used glossy accents for this project.  Stamp out 2 seeds on Kraft cardstock with Walnut Stain and cut them out attach them to your card using pop dots.

Cut a 5 ¼’x 3 ¼’ piece of white cardstock.  To create a border, stamp seeds all along the edge using Walnut Stain, color with E35.  Stamp you sentiment and round the edges.  Attach this piece to the inside panel.

To create the envelope box cut 2 pieces of  Kraft Cardstock 6 ½’x 8 ½’, score and fold 1’ from each edge, make a slit along 1 of the folded edges in each corner, make sure you cut only to where your folds intersect, using a strong adhesive, glue tabs together to create the 2 box halves.  The top half will slide over the bottom portion, you may have to play with them a little the first time you put on the lid.  Punch out a half circle from each of the long sides of your top piece.  I normally will try to follow the theme of the card to make a matching envelope box.

Created the same panel as the front of the card layering 4 ¼’ x 6 ¼’ brown cardstock; 4’x 6’ white cardstock and 3 ¾’x 5 ¾’ brown cardstock and sew them together, glue down to the lid of your box. Die cut 2 corner flourishes out of yellow cardstock and spray them with Sun Kissed Smooch to make them extra bright, secure the 2 corner pieces together with brads and glue onto the middle of the box, stamp the smallest of the sunflowers from the 2293 sunflower set on white cardstock with Walnut Stain and spray with the Sun Kissed Smooch, dab a little walnut stain on the flower to dull the color a bit.  Attach a button to the center of the flower using wire.  Punch out 2 leaves (Martha Stewart Rose leaf punch) crinkle them up and layer them along with the flower on the corner pieces, use a strong adhesive, I used Glossy accents.

Start with a 6.5’x 5.25’ card base (red), mat a 6.25x 5’ piece of core cardstock, inked with Victorian Velvet, with black cardstock and attach panel to card base. Stamp main image and sentiment on 5’x 4’ piece on Cryogen cardstock, color leaves, branch and flower buds with markers.  Color in bird and flowers using darkest shade of copics, these will be covered by additional layers.  Stamp 3 large cardinals and cut using coordinating die.  First image will be the bottom layer for tail and feet, second layer for body, third layer for wing and beak. Using a stylus form each layer and stack your cut layers to form the bird, attach layers with glossy accents.  Use the 3 smallest posy Patch flowers stamp set, stamp the smallest flower 3 times, and the other 2 once each.  Color and cut images, add gems to flower centers and glue over top of original stamped image.  Add stickles to flowers as desired.  Mat the completed image using black cardstock and the base card color and attach this panel to the card.
