A Couple Of Projects To Share

I spent a little time in my craft room this week and I found some inspiration from a few places so I have a few pages to share today.  Here is the first.

So Scrapbook Paradise started a weekly challenge.  They are a Canadian scrapbooking company that I like to shop at from time to time.   I love the challenge this week... Challenge 3 Distressing.  One of my all time favourite things to do to a page  For this page I used some water distressing techniques on... well... just about everything.  The base paper is from Gramma's attic I think... I used Walnut stain distress ink on the Dusty Attic frame around the photo I also added a few gems to it because I love bling on everything!  The flowers were cut from my Tattered floral die, I wet them again with water and bunched them up in tightly so that the flowers would have some dimension  Once they were dried I layered the flowers glued them and shaped them as I wanted, sprayed them with smooch and glimmer mist and dried them with my heat gun to make them nice and sturdy (this step makes a big difference in how well your homemade flowers hold up in your album); then I added punched snowflakes from a MS punch I have to great the middles and topped them off with some more gems.  I love making my own flowers!  The flourish has a sort of white polished finish to it.  Not sure what the brand is, I sprayed with walnut stain which is a product that I bought when I first started scrapping but hardly ever used so I spayed it and left it over night in the morning to my surprise it was not dry so I hit it with the heat gun again it was cooking on top but was still tacky so I took a rag and started sponging it off and what I found was a great leathery piece of chipboard that I absolutly love!  A happy accident!!!  I love those!!  that is how this LO was created.  Here is a close up of the flowers and flourish

The second LO that I am sharing is the another page that I was going to submit for last weeks challenge at scrapbook Paradise but unfortunately it took me to much time to get it photographed and posted and I missed the deadline but I will share it anyways.  There was a cute little owl that we were suppose to use as inspiration and it just so happened that I had just received the cutest little chippy owl for another challenge at Scrapbook.com so I created this page with it

the owl has 3 layers  I glimmer misted the top and bottom layers and covered the middle section in paper.  The journaling has some advise to my daughter about working hard and being able to achieve anything!

Denim Pocket Hangers

Well I haven't been blogging as much as I had intended to but I am going to try and fix that!  I have a lot of projects that I wanted to share with everyone, some layouts, some cards and a few altered projects so I thought I would share these awesome altered pockets I have been making they are for a swap over at scrapbook.com.  I started in one group so I had to make 2 pockets but they are so much fun to make that I decided to join a second group.  The really cool thing is that each of my partners have way different tastes so I got to make all different styles of pockets!

The first one I'll share is a steampunk pocket!  I've had this paper for quite a while and had not had a chance to play with it so when my partner requested a steampunk well I was just so happy to finally have a chance to play with these!!

The best thing about these papers is all the fussy cutting options which is one of my favorite techniques.  I have to show you the coolest part of this pocket, at least in my opinion

I had all these great old watch parts from an old Swirlydoo kit that I still had in my stash  I thought it would be cool if I could layer some pieces so I put some glossy accents on some paper then sprinkled some watch part... I added some more clue and then some more watch pieces... there are 4 layers of clock pieces in all there is just so much dimension to this pocket I absolutely love it!

A little tip while fussy cutting, a little inking all along the edge of the cut piece really helps to hide any flaws in the cutting.


Then I got to do a girly pocket, my partner wanted purple which is one of my favorite colors.  Here is what I came up with

The leaf and flower are Prima... the pocket was missing something though so I added a stamped image  The little girl is from Whiff Of Joy, they have the most incredible stamps!  Gorgeous every one of them!  Cant wait to order a few more from them.  Anyways I colored her with my copic markers.  Here is a close up of her.  Isn't she sweet!

Then I got my second group and the biggest challenge for me I was asked to create a country style pocket.  Man I didn't have any clue how I was going to do this one.  It took me 2 days looking through my stash going I don't own anything country well I was lying in bed talking to my boyfriend about how I had no clue what country was and how I was going to do it and then it dawned on me.  I think country; I think bright colors bold designs...  Here is my take on country and I didn't even have to go out and buy anything new.  I had it all in my stash.

Once again my copics save me.  I was looking for brads to layer these Prima flowers and I found these in my stash but the blue one was way too pale, didn't work at all so I took out my copics and died the fabric on the brad and now I love it!  I really like the way this pocket turned out.


The last one I wanted to share is the vintage pocket that I made.  This one was really fun to create too.  I wanted some lace for this one, unfortunately in this small town there is no fabric store, heck there is no Micheal's... there is a local craft shop but her scrapbooking department consists of on shelf unit and honestly I already bought one of everything she had when I started this obsession (hobby), I found a little bit of lace at Walmart but it was white and not quite right for vintage so I sprayed some Spun Sugar Smooch to the lace to give it the right look and started layering all sorts of embellies and here it is

The added bonus of dying fabric with Smooch is that it leave a beautiful glimmer to the fabric which is incredible in real life!  I have to show you guys a close up of the gorgeous brooch I used on this another Swirlydoo treasure I was hoarding...

Isn't it gorgeous?  I love it on this project!  I also added a little pop of color on the cards with my copics again.  I'm finding it really hard to complete a project these days without my copics.  I'm not sure what I ever did without them!

Valentine's Day card

I fell in love a while back with digital stamps by Kenny K, he has beautiful images, he also has a great weekly challenge which you can find here.  This weeks challenge was to use hearts in honor of his new stamp release,  I decided to try my hand at a sexy card.  I was also inpired my the colors at Cupcake Inspiration, The colors were screaming sexy card, check it out for yourself...

Here is what I did with it...

As far as a sketch here is one I found at Totally Gorjuss.

The papers on this card is from Creative Imaginations, the die cut piece is was a sign that was on the paper so I fussy cut it and used it as a die cut.  The hearts were cut out of an old cardboard box that I had, I painted it with some crakle paint and used my Black Velvet smootch after it was dry.  I backed the cardstock with some of the leftover papers to make them pop when I layered the hearts.  TFL

C.R.A.F.T. challenge# 84

I love the Craft Challenge Blog, and I swear it has nothing to do with the fact that I ended up in the top 3 with last week's card Thank You card.  They just have fabulous inspiration.  So this week there was a gorgeous sketch to follow and as it happened I needed a card for my daughter's friend.  Whipping it up was quick and painless with this simple sketch.

Here is my take on the sketch,

I did not want a square card since my image was so narrow so I decided to make a regular type card.  Of course it is for a 11 year old girl so it needed lots of glitter and some flowers.  To somewhat match the picture I punched out some flowers from some left over pink cardstock that I had used for the base and using my copics I colored them pink and blue, I feathered the colors together until they blended . I didn't think that the colors would come together and blend so beutifully but they did (2 coats each color for a perfect blend) and I am so pleased with the results.  The papers are from The Girls Paperie, Shabby Flower and Newsprint.  I used both sides of the papers which gave me my 4 layers with lots left over for a Layout.

Something with glitter

Here is a card I made for my aunt, she has a nice heated garage and lets the whole family gather there for special occasions.  It is the only place big enough to hold all of us for Christmas and New Year's get togethers, as well as so many other occasions.  She is the best hostess, this year I decided to give her a card to let her know just how much she really is appreciated.

The image is from the stamping boutique it is called The Fairies Frolic I colored the image using my copics The thank you is a freeby that I picked up and I can't for the life of me remember where it is from.  It is gorgeous though with the bow behind the texte.  I colored the bow to match the stamped image. The butterfly and pearl flourish are both from Prima.I am submitting this card to Stamp Something for there Something with Glitter Challenge and C.R.A.F.T. Here is a close up of the stamped image between the loose glitter the pearls and the gems on the butterfly this card really sparkles IRL.  Well thank you for looking at my card.

Fussy and Fancy Challenge #27 - Celebration gift and matching card

OK so I just got some copic markers for christmas!  Santa brought me the 36A collection, I love them but I definatly feel the need for more so since my b-day is coming up fast I am hoping to add another set to add to my collection.  I was so excited about trying them out that I have made a few cards that I am sharing today.  since they are all inspired by various challenges I am posting them seperatly.  This first one is the first image that I have colored with my copics!  It is a stamp a Kraftin' Kimmie image.  Fussy & Fancy have a weekly challenge, I love there moto, Less is more... but more is better!  That is so me, of course I HAVE to play there whenever I can so this week's challenge was about making a card and matching gift so here it is.

Here is a close up of the top flower cluster.  The daisies and leaves are punched with another chrismas gift and did you notice the pearls on the snowflakes... I got this product from Sweeden it is sort of like liquid pearls only better, it is called Pearl Maker by Waco.  As hard as I try with liquid pearls I always have this little nib that stickes out but with this stuff no nibs.  I also used it for the trim and pom-pom (pardon my french) on the hat.  I absolutley love this stuff.  Take a look for yourself.
