Lasting Memories is in the middle of the DT call and I am defiantly giving this a try. I just love there challenges with a wide variety of different types well you just never know what you will be asked to create next... This time was about Who or what inspires you most and for me... hands down it is my daughter, with her ability to marvel at the world around her... with her determination and ability to adapt to new situations... with her innocence and her constant trust in me... Hands down, my greatest inspiration is my daughter!
I thought I'de share with you a few tips to creating this page. I love layering paper on my pages but since I don't like using all my papers at once I tend to gut my papers this allows me to create the illusion of using lots of paper when in reality I used 3 sheets on this page. I cut out the middle of the lavender cardstock to add my center peice to the page as well as the pattern paper and the cream paper to mat my picture. I back the whole layout with a cheap cardstock so that you can't tell that the pages have been gutted. Sneaky I know... but when the only craft shop you have within a few hours of driving is a Wal-Mart you learn to conserve as much as possible.
Here is a close-up of the flowers that I created...
I love using glimmer mist on my flowers because when it dries the cardtock because stiffer so that you can shape the flower petals that much easier and they seam to keep there shape better, also I try to shape the petals randomly so they are not all uniforme. It makes them look more natural.I also like to add some ink to fill in the white spots that are left over when you die cut the stamped images. I find it gives my peices a more polished look. I normally will use either a Q-tip or a nib for this.
Covering the tiles with Glossy accents... that part I forgot to mention in my how-to... I printer the letters using the tiles provided by our very own... very generous... Lisa, check out her tutorial for faux scrabble tiles. I just LOVE these tiles!
Once everything has been glued together a great way to add a little something extra is by going around the paper and gently rolling the papers up so that you seperate the layers slightly. It is the perfect finishing touch to a shabby shic layout.
Well thanks for checking out my project today and I hope you enjoyed all the projects that the DT team has put together. Have yourseves a great day! I hope you will drop by next week to see what else I have created!
